This product is used as a nutritive substrate to grow out fungal mycelium.

The grain has been selected for its high food-grade quality, optimized to the perfect moisture, and sterilized and sealed to prevent any unwanted contamination before the selected fungus is introduced.

We currently only use two types of grain:

• Rye
• Popcorn

A wide variety of gourmet and medicinal mushrooms. It's best to start with the kind of mushroom you want to grow and then search for common techniques and materials (likely available on our site).

Recommended use within three months but has been used past a year just fine. If putting into prolonged storage, sealing it in an airtight bag (so there's no moisture slowly escaping through the filter patch over months) is a good idea. If you're restoring it short term, just use the normal guidelines: cool, dry room temperature, etc.

Store in a cool, dry place away from sunlight if not in use. For prolonged storage, seal it in an airtight bag.

1. In a sterile environment, prepare a syringe with spores or liquid culture.
   
2. Sterilize the injection port with isopropyl alcohol.
   
3. Inject the spores or culture through the port. The self-healing port requires no tape.

• Maintain an ambient temperature of 70-80°F in the entire room during cultivation.

• Ensure the humidity in the container where the mushrooms are growing is between 90%-100%.

Mycelial growth is visible in 3-4 days for popcorn and 4-7 days for rye.

It takes 1-2 weeks to reach 30% colonization and an additional 1-2 weeks for full colonization after a break and shake.

It is often best practice to discard the entire unit and start over to avoid spreading contamination.

While the bags, ports, and filters can be reused or repurposed if desired, it might be more cumbersome than just getting a new bag or unit.

Use caution with open flames and isopropyl alcohol for sterilization. Handle sharp tools carefully.

Bags are sealed in zipper plastic bags and placed in appropriately sized cardboard boxes. Packing paper ensures bags are secure and undamaged during shipping.
